Structural Analysis 4th Edition teaches students the basic principles of structural analysis using the classical approach. The chapters are presented in a logical order, moving from an introduction of the topic to an analysis of statically determinate beams, trusses and rigid frames, to the analysis of statistically indeterminate structures. The text includes solved problems to help illustrate the fundamental concepts. Access to interactive software for analyzing plane framed structures is available for download via the texts online companion site. See the Features tab for more info on this software.

    Key Features
    • Clear and valuable explanations of the basic concepts supported by detailed step-by-step procedures for analysis enabling students to make an easier transition from theory to problem solving.
    • Worked-out examples provide extra support.
    • Each chapter begins with an introductory section defining its objective and ends with a helpful summary.
    • Chapter 17, Introduction to Matrix Structural Analysis, prepares readers for the follow-up course in matrix structural analysis; Kassimali's Matrix Analysis of Structures provides a perfect companion text.
    • A computer program for analyzing plane framed structured is available for download via the companion site. This interactive software can be used to simulate a variety of structural loading configurations and to determine cause versus effect relationships between loading and various structural parameters, thereby enhancing the students' understanding of the behavior of structures.
    • The accompanying software shows deflected shapes of structures to enhance students' understanding of structural response due to various types of loadings. It can also include the effects of support settlements, temperature changes, and fabrication errors in the analysis.
    • A solutions manual containing complete solutions to over 600 text exercises, is also available for the instructor.

    New to This Edition
    • Coverage of loads on structures has been updated to meet the latest ASCE standards.
    • Fifteen percent new problems (with the total over 600).
    • Computer software has been upgraded.
    • New photos and page layout to enhance clarity.
